(More customer reviews)I purchased this 52-inch five-blade ceiling fan as much for the convenience of having it shipped to my door as anything else.

We had replaced all old fans in our house and needed a white one to swap with an old 70's style fan that was in a back bedroom.I was worried that this fan would be cheaply made and be comparable to a $50 fan purchased at a discount store, but I was happily wrong about that.

This fan was easy to install if you already know how to install a ceiling fan; if not, hire a professional to do it.All in all it took my husband about an hour to do and while we won't use it with a remote, it sure works great for it's intended purpose.It's quiet and smooth running; even when used with an extra-long down-rod.Can't comment on the light quality because we didn't purchase the lightbulbs neededyet.(I see that it's the first line of the description - light bulbs not included - and it uses the small ones you wouldn't likely have on hand.Somehow I didn't read that when I ordered the fan.)

So make sure you have the lightbulbs on hand.

Overall, this unit seems like a decent purchase.Sure we may have gotten something similar or even better for this price had we chose to walk around our home improvement store, but purchasing this one on Amazon and having it delivered to our door was too convenient in this case.

Overall, a good purchase.

(More customer reviews)Not hard to install, but when done noticed that too much of the light fixture was sticking out above the glass globe. This is very unattractive. Bought 2 of them, am returning one. Will try to make the threaded pipe shorter so that the glass globe will fit closer to the motor and cover where the chain comes out. I have several Hunter fans and this is the first bad experience.
Also, description does NOT state that the 60 watt bulbs are candelabra bases.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this unit so that my kids would not be able to play with the pull cords on the ceiling fan.We weren't certain how well it would work, but the installation was fairly simple.We got it right on the first try.

The remote control needs an A23 battery which was not included in our package.Wiring was fairly straightforward and the control unit tucked neatly into the fan casing.

If you control your fan with a light switch, be aware that the system defaults to the off position every time you turn off the light switch, so you will need your remote to activate the fan and the light again...don't lose your remote!Overall, we really like this gadget!

If I had to think of one negative it would be that it was a bit difficult to install - but I always find ceiling fans to be more difficult to install.

(More customer reviews)The Minka-Aire gyro Fan is probably a pretty good product, however, the fan I received was defective.I installed it and while both fans worked electrically, one of the fans was binding internally and would not continue rotating.A call to M-A tech support quickly diagnosed the fan as defective and I was told to return it.I can't say enough good about Del Mar Designs, the Amazon Vendor.Shipment was paid by Del Mar both ways and their "No Hassle" return policy was truly no hassle. Credit was issued promptly.
